Cyberdemon

Share definition Flag
The cyberdemon is usually seen as the most powerful enemy you encounter in doom. His first appearance was in Ultimate DOOM the the last stage of episode 2 in Tower Of Babel.

The cyberdemon has goat legs but one of them is metallic or perhaps robotic. His weapon is a rocket launcher that replace one of his hand. His tactic is to mindlessly shoot 3 rockets in a row at the player which deals tremendously high damages even at the lowest difficulty. However this is his weakness because a player with some experience will be able to dodge the rockets easily because of the simple attack pattern it uses.

In DOOM II, in the stage named GOTCHA!, this stage is meant to show a battle between a cyberdemon and the final boss of Ultimate DOOM, the spider mastermind. The cyberdemon usually always win unless the player interfer.

The cyberdemon makes a come-back in DOOM III where he is the final boss of the game. Despise his incredible damage rating, if the player defeats it the usual way, the cyberdemon is quite easy to vanquish.
Oh so this is the last stage of episode 2... uh? Theres nothing... wait... WHAT IS THAT!?

The Cyberden and Go 2 it in Final DOOM plutonia is the stages with the most cyberdemons.

Getting dumped by your girlfriend over the internet, via e-mail or even worse - instant messengers (e.g. ICQ, MSN, AOL ...). A step worse than being teledumped (see teledump), which is already very very bad.
Fuck me, my girlfriend just dumped me over ICQ. What a kick in the nuts. How low can you go anyway?

Cyberdeck

Alternative slang for what most would commonly refer to as a laptop or notebook and/or netbook computer. But could also extend to an iPAD as well. It is derived from THE SPRAWL Trilogy (*this includes the short stories Johnny Mnemonic, New Rose Hotel, Burning Chrome) of Sci-Fi Cyberpunk novels by William Gibson (Neuromancer, Count Zero, Mona Lisa Overdrive). ---basically, die hard fans and wishful thinkers who are bored/disappointed with modern tech as it exists now (such as a smart phone) for being too practical and lacking imagination, and have labeled things in the manner of the alternate 1980s of Gibson's Cyberpunk world line; and in a sense, sticking to more cumbersome (and often times outdated) tech in contrast to what is accepted by the collective majority. Thus some might flip open a laptop/note book and log onto the Internet... others will power up their Cyberdeck and jack into Cyberspace.
John: "This new Smart Phone is awesome. Gotta' let the world know where I'm at."

{Case pulls out laptop and jacks in a G3/G4 modem link}

Case: "My dumb phone handles my calls... but I still lug around my Cyberdeck to get online."

{Everyone stares at Case as he does this}

Together: "Why?"

Case: "It's just how I roll."

Striver

Share definition Flag
The striver is an interesting phenomenon that is seen across college campuses. In essence, the striver is an over-achiever who comes from a working or middle class family. He may be an immigrant. He may have been a slacker in HS who was "born again" into an academic wunderkind. Or he may just be an over-achiever who is keeping at it.

The striver is willing to sacrifice his social life at the expense of Phi Beta Kappa and Summa Cum Laude. The striver is the guy who stays at the library long after you are gone. The striver is the guy who takes 30 credits/semester and considers anything below an A/4.0 failure. The striver doesn't work on campus, he is too busy finding ways to pad his resume instead of working retail or workstudy. The striver lets his grades pay his education by applying to ten scholarships a year.

The striver is a future Soros/Fullbright/Rhodes/Gates/Marshall/etc. fellow. The striver lives to study. For the striver, their fun comes from the rewards they expect to receive in return for their diligence. Be it Law School, B-School, academia, or politics. The striver seeks to find the American Dream through academic success.
Anthony was a striver. He transfered from a TTT to an IVY and graduated in 2 years. He studied his ass off and went to Penn Law. He got a Biglaw offer. But lost it all because of an unmoderated mesasgeboard.

- Harold Koh
