In actuality, a conspiracy theory pushed by Fox News and Republicans with the intent of manipulating public opinion and distracting attention from the complete and utter dysfunction of the Republican-controlled congress. Tea party parrots still stand by the original version of events even though a chief eye-witness of this account was exposed as a fraud and CBS News had to retract their "bomshell" report about the cover-up.
There's no denying the tragedy that took place on that day. But the "scandal" known as BenghaziGate has about as much basis in reality as birtherism and Ancient Alien Theory. But what do you expect from a group of people who would believe President Obama was a reptilian from Alpha Centauri if Fox News said so.
