SouthGOAT
The colloquial nickname given to Gareth Southgate, England manager appointed in 2016 for his team's impressive performances in World Cup 2018 and Euro 2020 (held in 2021).
His team were World Cup semi-finalists for the first time since 1990 in 2018 and Euro finalists for the first time in their history in 2021. Their only other final appearance in international tournaments came in 1966 which they won the World Cup under Sir Alf Ramsey. They have appeared in two other semi-finals, once in World Cup 1996 (when Southgate was a player) and the other in the UEFA Nations League semi-final in 2019 (as manager), making him the most successful England manager behind Ramsey.
He also drove up waistcoat sales after sporting it during World Cup 2018.
