The practice of being seemingly transfixed to the sofa as a result of tiredness from overworking, overplaying or being just plain darn lazy.

Sorry I cannot possibly come to the door/answer the phone/make tea as am currently sofatosed.

a slang term originating at Seton Hall University. The term is used when Division I athlete gets too intoxicated and cannot function properly.
