Smeldering

A persistent and unpleasant odour arising from a combination of rotting food, dampness, mildew, and fungal growth, typically occurring in poorly ventilated or neglected areas of a kitchen or household.

A condition characterized by the mingling of organic kitchen odours with the characteristic musty or earthy smell associated with mould.

Example:
There was a noticeable smeldering emanating from the kitchen garbage in the cupboard beneath the sink.

In the style of CNN anchor Brian Stelter, to pathetically avoid accountability and onus to do one's job with integrity, in which one falsely assumes a moral high ground.

When approached for a comment on the CNN expose, Brian responded with "Y'know I'm sorry for you...I'm sorry for you..." dismissing journalists in Steltering manner.
