Lock, Shock, and Barrel

Share definition Flag
From Tim Burton's "The Nightmare Before Christmas". These are the three children who work for Oogie Boogie. Their names come from the phrase "lock, stock, and barrel". They kidnap Sandy Claws (Santa Claus) and take him back to Oogie's place. Lock is dressed as a devil, has a white face, blue lips, and red hair that resemble devil horns. He tries to be the leader, top dog, #1. Shock is dressed as a witch, has a long, white face, and stringy, wavy black hair. She is the leader (and the smartest) of the three. Barrel is dressed as a skeleton, with green hair, a white face, and a near-permanent ear-to-ear grin. Lock and Shock seem to underestimate him, and so becomes the butt of their jokes. They think he is "the dumb one". All three children have masks.
"Jack sent for us-"
"-specifically-"
"-by name."
"Lock!"
"Shock!"
"Barrel!"

"We're his little henchmen and we take our job with pride.
We do our best to please him, and stay on his good side!"

Lock, Shock, and Barrel sing "Kidnap the Sandy Claws".

a handshake performed by two friends, works better if one is a girl. It is started by pounding. One pound up, the other down, then switch. Next, lock it by pounding together and twisting. After twisting, shock it by putting your fingers in shocker formation and wiggliing your fingers.
"Man, that car is so fly! Pound it, lock it, shock it!" (words followed by pounding it, locking it, and shocking it.)

sock n lock

Share definition Flag
A home made weapon.
It's made by putting a heavy lock (e.g.: a master lock) in a balled up sock, then in the other from the pair.
It draws from the Morningstar or "mace and chain" style bludgeoning techniques
Its fast to make, and non-assembled is not considered a deadly weapon. It deals far more damage then merely swinging a heavy chain.

Its sometimes referred to as a smiley due to the mark left by the locks bolt.
Back in the 30's, idiots rumbled with chains, bats, and switchblades. Now they rumble with guns, but I still use my sock n lock to bash up the neighborhood cars.

Striver

Share definition Flag
The striver is an interesting phenomenon that is seen across college campuses. In essence, the striver is an over-achiever who comes from a working or middle class family. He may be an immigrant. He may have been a slacker in HS who was "born again" into an academic wunderkind. Or he may just be an over-achiever who is keeping at it.

The striver is willing to sacrifice his social life at the expense of Phi Beta Kappa and Summa Cum Laude. The striver is the guy who stays at the library long after you are gone. The striver is the guy who takes 30 credits/semester and considers anything below an A/4.0 failure. The striver doesn't work on campus, he is too busy finding ways to pad his resume instead of working retail or workstudy. The striver lets his grades pay his education by applying to ten scholarships a year.

The striver is a future Soros/Fullbright/Rhodes/Gates/Marshall/etc. fellow. The striver lives to study. For the striver, their fun comes from the rewards they expect to receive in return for their diligence. Be it Law School, B-School, academia, or politics. The striver seeks to find the American Dream through academic success.
Anthony was a striver. He transfered from a TTT to an IVY and graduated in 2 years. He studied his ass off and went to Penn Law. He got a Biglaw offer. But lost it all because of an unmoderated mesasgeboard.

Successful strivers:
- Barack Obama
- Harold Koh

Delta SkyMiles, also known as SkyPesos, is the frequent flyer program of Delta Airlines. It has a very poor value and hard to use.
- I'm trying to book an award flight to Paris, but I only have 70,000 SkyPesos
- Just forget about it, you don't have enough SkyPesos to fly anywhere.
