Region Rock

A style of Punk music based in the southeast United States including but not limited to Chattanooga, TN; Asheville, NC; Huntsville, AL; Miami and parts of north Florida; Dalton, GA; and areas of Mississippi, Kentucky, Arkansas, and Virginia. It is characteristically tough, melodic, and catchy, but based more on geography and community than a particular sound.

Future Virgins, Rice Harvester, The Grumpies, Forced Vengeance, Twat Sauce, and Queerwulf are just a few examples of bands based in the southeast US who create the uniquely raw, emotive and melodic style of DIY Punk Rock known as Region Rock.

Region Rat

Any person from the Lake County are from Northwest Indiana. They have to have grown up, went to school and know landmarks only Region Rats know. They know what the history of "The Region" is because more than likely, they were part of it. Region Rats also never loose touch with other Region Rats. No matter how far you move away, you always come back to "The Region" for one reason or another.

Region Rat

One who was born, raised, educated, and worked in a Northwest Indiana steel mill.
Taken from a combination of Mill Rat, ( someone who worked in a Steel Mill,) and "The Region", ( the Lake, Porter Counties)
In Northwest Indiana. Region Rat was a marketing ploy by the Indiana Tourism Dept. about 1990 to promote the area.

I am a proud Region Rat. I was born in East Chicago, Indiana, raised in the Hessville Section of the City of Hammond, Went to Harding School, and the Old O.P. Morton High School on Marshal Ave. My Great-grandfather, Grand father, Father, Numerous Great-Uncles, Uncles, and Cousins worked for Inland steel. I and my brothers worked there for a total of 70 years between us. I had 35 years.

If you know Where the "Mill Gate Inn" , Little Red School House moved from, or where "Mount Baldy" is, you may be a Region Rat.

region band auditions

An attempt to humiliate and test the mental stability of band students by putting them in high pressure situations and forcing them attempt to play etudes that have negative effects on the students physical and/or mental well-being.

The presdident can't be under that much stress, it's not like he has region band auditions or anything.

Region Locked

(A slang term used in Magic: the Gathering.)

When an opponent takes control over one of your creatures or planeswalkers, but they cannot use/activate effects because the opponents deck is built around a different colour of mana.

Player 1: "I took control of your Moorland Inquisitor with my Mind Flayer!"
Player 2: "Yes, but you can't use his ability because he is region locked."

region lock

A technological measure to prevent you, the consumer, from enjoying content that you paid for because it's from another country. Virtually all DVD players have this built in, as well as video game consoles. In the USA , it is illegal to modify a device in such a way as to defeat the region lock. This evil invention allows hated countries (that is countries with a race that is not preferred) to get movies and games last while Aryan countries get them first, and it makes the authentic legitimate original less valuable because of the restrictions put on it.

The fact that there is a region lock on my game console reinforces my stereotype that the U.S.A. is nowhere near a free country.

A region lock is a hate crime on a chip.
