Refirement

Refirement: When your employer is so tired of dealing with an employee they escort the employee from the property in front of their peers and permanently ban the employee from ever returning to the property. Additionally, the employer is more than willing to provide a lump sum settlement to simply never have to see/deal with the employee again. This is often seen in government positions since they are using tax payers funds.

The traditional end of career celebrations are not held and gold watches are not given.

“Refired” employees typically have no friends in the workplace and are hated their fellow employees. This often leads to all other employees celebrating like the monks celebrating when Ace Ventura exited the monastery in “Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls”
Mr. Gray was forced into refirement from the municipal government. No gold watch and walked to the door and given a check.

Two Days Till Retirement

An action movie cliche in which a character in an action film mentions wanting to do something peaceful after a mission/encounter only to die in the film.
Did that guy in the movie say he wants to marry his girlfriend after the war? Yep, he's got two days till retirement!

This came about while talking with a friend about the death of someone who was planning to retire, but passed away before retiring. I told him that we would be attending his retirement funeral.

stealth retirement

The increasingly common phenomenon of quietly and suddenly retiring in the midst of workplace chaos to avoid the dangers of the Covid Pandemic.
Well my man, the only truly intelligent option as I see it is stealth retirement!

Retirement

A myth. Something hard working people look forward to all their working lives, only to be disappointed by the fact that they can't afford to live off there substantially small pensions for the rest of their lives.
