My brother may claim to be a democrat, but skirt the issue of gay marriage and all of a sudden he becomes a pseudocrat.

Pseudocrat

A person who pretends to possess high social status or superiority, behaving as though they belong to an elite or “popular” social class while treating people they perceive as socially inferior with contempt or disrespect. Pseudocrats often seek attention through loud, disruptive, or inconsiderate behavior; disregard other people’s boundaries or property; ridicule or humiliate others for entertainment; and use perceived social status to exclude, belittle, or assert dominance over others.

A defining characteristic of a pseudocrat is hypocrisy and a double standard: they consider themselves entitled to criticize, insult, or ridicule others while believing that the same behavior directed toward themselves is unacceptable.

pseudodating 

A pseudodate is a planned event that occurs between strictly two people when at least one person thinks they may be into the other.

One doesn't have to pay for everything on a pseudodate, but if picking up the tab can be pulled off then it could mean real dates lie in one's future.

Also, pseudodating other people at the same time is always a good thing.
