Plongitude

A plongitude is at right angles to any common platitude … viz. “the cat’s meow”, a platitude for something quite nice, turns into “the cat’s dogbite” to mean something very “not nice.”
The writer surprises her readers with frequent plongitudes eliciting knowing grins more than lohengrins.
