Party Guard

"Party Guard" was the name of a popular social society made up of young Boston College graduates living in Boston's North End in the early 1990's. The group experienced several years of growth after the success of its four year run of twice weekly pre-parties and popular "late nights".

Party Guard gained some local notoriety when its t-shirt giveaway became seemingly "too" popular. The official-looking white shirt was emblazoned with a large red cross. Accompanied by "Party Guard" in bold lettering and the tagline "Party First, Safety Last" upset safety advocates and off-duty lifeguards when a large group of partiers were spotted wearing the shirts on a family beach on Boston's North Shore in 1994. Critics had argued that the shirts conveyed an "irresponsible" message and could confuse those in need of water rescue.

Membership waned after this criticism, but its ultimate disbanding was due to its members aging out with several moving from the Boston area. The founder, Gilly (full name redacted), currently lives with his wife and two children outside of Philadelphia, PA.
The Party Guard phenomenon blurred the line between revelry and water safety.

Classy way of referring to sexual intercourse. Most often used when inviting a woman back to your home.

While this phrase generally refers to any type of sex act, it is sometimes used to refer specifically to sex in an outdoor hot tub.

garden party

A party with absolutely NO WOMEN. Usually consists of about 10 to 15 guys sitting in an apartment or dorm, getting drunk off of keystone, and waiting for girls to show up. When patience starts wearing thin one guy usually pulls out a guitar and starts to sing. This type of party can go on all night.
Guests: "Hey man, thanks for inviting us to your party."

Nate: "Yeah, no problem. Just make yourselves at home."

Guests: "Dude there's no girls here! Is this a GARDEN PARTY?"

Nate: "You guys wanna hear this new song I learned on guitar?"

Garden Party

A concert at the World's Most Famous Arena, Madison Square Garden. The artist doesn't matter, only that the audience is experiencing something special.

Derived from Rick Nelson’s famous song “Garden Party”, which depicts a moment in his career where he came out grown up and played on the grandest stage of them all and was booed.

Such Garden Parties include (but are not limited to): Billy Joel, Elton John (Who both have banners that hang in the rafters for their contributions to the arena), Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band, Metallica, Dave Matthews Band, Jay-Z and Taylor Swift (Who set a record with the fastest sell out with her 2009 Fearless Tour which sold out in 60 seconds).

In sales terms, a whale is a prospect that is significantly larger than an organization’s average customer.

Whales are large and extremely difficult to close. Due to their immense size, they are highly sought-after.

A whale is typically identified at first by a whale hunter on the sales team, but often requires cross-discipline participation in order to close; this includes assistance from operations, engineering, creative, client success, and business development teams.
"Shit...the sales director chewed me out on the sales call this morning. He's totally pissed that I have nothing in my pipeline. I've been focused on this one whale for so long that I haven't had time to prospect for normal-sized deals."

city chicken

A food native to Pittsburgh/Western Pennsylvania in which cubes of pork and/or veal are put on a short, wooden skewer, breaded, then baked and/or fried.

I've heard that city chicken originated during the Great Depression, when folks didn't have enough money to buy full cuts of meat, so they assembled meat scraps on a wooden skewer, creating a make-shift drumstick. Hence the name.
