Pretty much what the other definition said about this.

Nootropics do do stuff, they aren't just scam supplements, but depending on your brain, and the kinds you use, it may seem like that. Nootropics are non-addictive and is used correctly, lack negative side effects. Some have weak 'tolerance' or have addictive effects (nothing compared to real drugs) that some in the community argue don't deserve the label of a Nootropic. The whole point is to influence your mood and cognition in order for you, the human brain, to perform better, be it at work, in social situations, thinking, I mean, it's literally affecting your thoughts and how you think, it's so cool!!!!

Getting into this stuff requires a somewhat obsessive interest with a minimal amount of money. Being conscience about how you feel and think, and making sure you somewhat control to test the substance you are taking to see if it does anything, is important.

Nootropics range from naturally existing (in body) amino acids to lab made drugs. There is truly a wide range of things, you have to be obsessive/smart to really get into this. Subreddits such as r/Nootropics r/Nootopics and discords are your best friends besides the usual sources. Have fun.
New-Nootropicist: Dude, you gotta try this stuff, they're like mood drugs and brain vitamins but they work and they're not bad!!
Normal Person: Wow drugs, probably a fucking scam lmao
Drug Addict: Yeah that doesn't do shit.
Nootropicsist: But they really do work and they're non-addictive, and druggie, they could buffer all that cognitive damage and even potentiate mari-

A subreddit about nootropics (look that up on here), which due to its complex and online sales driven nature, presents many quirks and challenges the subreddit tries to accomplish. Not being smart and obsessive about how you read will lead you to be disappointed. Moderation is generally ok. The mods are the owners or have relations with the largest nootropics supplier in the US, Nootropics Depot. Their severity of grievances against the community is small, but can be criticized.

Navigating and researching nootropics on here (and in general) requires time and care. Think about the anecdotes on a given Nootropic. How was it dosed, how should it be dosed, how could it be dosed, is there difference in brand, is there a better alternative, will this have any conflicts, is the source reliable, were there any side effects, especially specific to someone?

Being curious is important, discords alongside this can be a big help.

r/nootopics is also a tiny competitor ran by a very respected Nootropicsist for reasons.
I spent 7 hours on r/nootropics yesterday, I think I have the perfect stack and dosing regime and source list and testing plan!!
