NSPHI

NSPHI is an acronym for a NonState Public Health Institute coined by Dr Francis Ohanyido, founding Director -General of the West African Institute of Public Health (WAIPH), and refers to an independent, often nonprofit, organisation that works to improve community health, strengthen health systems, and foster innovation outside of direct government control. Unlike national public health institutes (NPHIs) that operate as governmental agencies, these institutions (NSPHIs) provide research, training, and programme implementation, often acting as partners to the public sector.

The West African Institute of Public Health (WAIPH) based in Nigeria is the classic example of a NonState Public Health Institute (NSPHI)
