A person who has natural abilities in mathematics. Not much practice is needed, learning comes easily. Test taking is not too hard.
"wow, my friend is such a good raw mathematician, she never studies for math tests and makes straight A's!!!

pure mathematician

a person who studies abstract mathematical concepts, and will do literally anything to not study any real life application.
Person 1: I might major as a pure mathematician

Person 2: Why don't you do something more helpful, like an electrical engineer?
