If a student has had a catastrophic experience, a tragedy, an emotional upheaval that leaves that student unable to physically sit through
class, has not slept in over 18 hours, is unable to complete course work, and/ or does not feel prepared for the next day's assignment(s)/assessment(s), a student
may ask to be counseled-out and counselors may counsel a student out of
class; they may also discuss the possibility of the student’s going to the Clinic, going
home, or some other means by which to handle the situation.
"Kevin, I can't counsel you out again unless you're on
fire. Do you understand that?"
"Um yeah, I just counseled-out of
18 classes. God I
hate second trimester."
