Cakeism - The doctrine of having one's cake and eating it too, as regards the UK government and its Brexit negotiations. The action of exaggerating the UK's potential, to make it seem that greater things are possible than reality offers. Cakeism is used by 'Cakeists' to win people over with baseless offerings such as the red bus used in the UK referendum, with the aim to leave Europe. It is often related to feelings of loss of the British empire. It can also be associated with political opportunism.
You may believe that the UK can once more achieve an Empire, but times have changed, and we are an integrated part of European now. We need to maintain closeness with our neighbours to ensure peace, and that is why the European Union was created.
