awkwaintance

A person with whom you are insufficiently acquainted to either make easy small talk or enjoy a comfortable silence. An "awkwaintance" is often the friend of a friend; he or she is promoted to the position of "awkwaintance" when the mutual friend leaves you two alone.

(Ash and Gary are at dinner. Brock walks up.)

Ash: Oh, hey, it's Brock! What's going on, man! This is Gary; Gary, Brock. Join us, Brock!

(Brock joins.)
(10 minutes later.)

Ash: Sorry, I have to go be somewhere by myself for an unspecified length of time. Later, guys!

(Gary and Brock, newly made awkwaintances, finish their meals in uncomfortable silence, punctuated by disjointed small talk and uneasy chuckling.)

Awkwardian is a descriptor for someone who is known to be socially awkward in their unique form of eccentricity. These individuals, while obviously different, tend to be movers and shakers of the status quo. They don’t fit in, yet their presence can change the very landscape of society.

The term was coined by Jamie Bihl of Austin, TX on March 3rd 2014.

Awkwardians from across time would include individuals such as Mark Zuckerberg, Jimmy Fallon, Steven Tyler, Mozart and Picasso.

Awkwafina

Asian-American comedian known for her roles in Crazy Rich Asians, Ocean's 8, Jumanji: The Next Level, Breaking News in Yuba County. She also did voice work in Raya and the Last Dragon, Storks, Angry Birds 2 and Spongebob movie 3. Known for her crude and self deprecating humor she started out Youtube in 2012 with original songs like, "My Vag", "NYC Bitches" and "Peggy Bundy". She also has her own show "Awkwafina is Nora from Queens "which is pretty good.

Awkwafina who started on the MTV show Girl Code, once described her own voice as a "50 year old divorce attorney".
