The literature board of 4chan. One of the more "tame" boards on 4chan, with its posters often using perfect grammar, snobtard vocabulary, and high quality images. Other than that, mostly a circlejerk for George Orwell's 1984.

After months of encouragement from /lit/, I've finally decided to read 1984. It was not as good as people made it out to be.

Lit 

Contrary to popular modern belief, Lit is a term used to describe mildly intoxicated. It was often used by blues and jazz musicians in the 40s, 50s and 60s to describe the "sweet spot" in which someone was drunk enough to be relaxed and play better, without being wasted and suffering from motor skill impairment.

Promoter: He's had 5 drinks, will her be able to play?

Musician: He's just getting lit, it puts him in his zone, all good.

1. A term used to describe something that is cool and exciting, or just generally something you would want to experience.
2. In literal terms, it means if something is on fire, or catches fire.
