Tapli refers to hitting someone on the back of the neck/head with your hand.
It's usually done with a flat palm or the back of your hand - so that it hurts and really annoys the other.
When this is done as a group and everyone plans to hit the target on the back of the neck (with a flat palm), it is called a Laal Batti (translating to the Red Light on the top of police vehicle or ambulance 🚨) as the targets neck becomes a bright red after that.
