extracurricular whore

A student (usually high school junior) who racks up multiple extracurricular activities with the sole purpose of stuffing her/his college application. Has no passion for any of these activities whatsoever, and attempts to get her/his fingers into as many pies as possible (however shallow).

Also attempts to cozy up to successful students (mostly Ivy-bound seniors) and learn the secrets of getting into college.

Examples of extracurriculars include: community service, Model United Nations, debate, French club, etc.

Wow, Chloe B. just jumped into every single club photo so she could say she was in all those clubs! What an extracurricular whore.

Extracurricular Industrial Complex

The large scale after school sports programs that kids now are made a part of. This includes soccer, baseball, hockey, gymnastics, ballet and other activities that children participate in after school.

This addresses the over scheduling of children and the parents who have to shuttle them to all these events with the misbegotten hope that their child is "gifted" and we surely go pro, or at least get a scholarship to a post-secondary school.

My daughter is in Soccer, traveling soccer, winter soccer, spring soccer, fall soccer, soccer camp and is on three different teams for each of these groups. My son does the same thing but for hockey. Yesterday I had to declare bankruptcy because we are out of money.

Dude, you are a victim of the Extracurricular Industrial Complex.

Sextra-Curricular

Instead of staying after school for extra-curricular activities you stay for sextra-curricular ones. Which usually involve a teacher, a student and a desk. Often related to trying to get sextra credit, but it can just be for the heck of it.

Student 1: Are you catching the bus tonight?
Student 2: Nah, I've got to stay behind for some sextra-curricular activities or else I'm going to fail geography.
