Someone who thinks that all ships are fine, regardless of content. This can include illegal stuff of course, thus why they tend to spark controversy often.
Person 1: I’m a proshipper.
Person 2. I find that kind of questionable, but alright.

This is the most common type a of proshipper.

This proshipper thinks that problematic ships such as abuse, incest, and/or pedophilia are ok to ship as long as it is completely fictional and tagged.

This type of proshipper will most likely not bring politics unrelated topics such as racism or queerphobia into the conversation.
Person 1: Proshippers fucking bring random shit into their arguement to make them sound ok for shipping kids

Type 1 proshipper: Not all do that, which is why shit like this should be separated

Essentially, the non-weeb version on a lolicon. The name stems from being "pro-shipping" or not caring what romantic/sexual fan art people create of popular media. Though at some point this term started meaning "I think all art is acceptable and healthy". A nice sounding message, until you realize this extends to rape scat porn of My Little Pony characters drawn as realistic human infants, and literally any other obscene fucked up thing one can imagine.

They tend to use terms such as 'problematic', 'pro-art', 'pro-fiction', and the combination of '🌈🍖' to identify each other.
Person 1: why did you block this person?
Person 2: because they're a proshipper.
Person 1: what's that mean?
Person 2: they drew a baby goat being REDACTED and think its OK because fiction =/= reality.
Person 1: what a weirdo.

"Proshipper" is a term that was originally used to define anyone who likes to ship characters. Since its creation, it gradually became an umbrella term. Today, it is generally used to identify anyone ranging from an actual proshipper who simply likes to ship characters, to someone who believes that writing explicit content about fictional characters is okay, to someone who simply supports pedophilia.

There is usually a lot of variance in their beliefs in what is right or wrong about fan content and character depictions. Many are advocates for terms such as "Dead Dove: Do Not Eat," and "Don't Like, Don't Read" - which are fanfiction terms that basically say "If you don't like this ship, or how these characters are portrayed, don't interact with it." Modern "proshippers" generally tend to believe that an individual should manage their own preferences instead of criticizing the creator for depicting it.

Many "proshippers" do consider things such as "shota" (sexual content depicting children younger than 12) - and other similar content - as going too far. However, many other "proshippers" believe that it isn't the job of participants in a fandom to police others, and that if there is policing of what is morally right or wrong in fandom, it should be done by the platform hosting the work.

Many "proshippers" do not use the term themselves, or identify as one. It is generally a term used by others to label someone who they believe falls under the term of a "proshipper."
Person 1: "Oh, I'm a proshipper."
Person 2: "Woah, careful- what exactly do you mean by that?"
Person 1: "I'm fine with people shipping characters, and I'll just control what I, myself, look at."
Person 2: "...Yeah, that's fine, but be careful throwing around that term."

The majority of every fandom. They usually are around 20-30 years of age and spend a huge amount of time on social media especially tumblr or twitter. Proshippers enjoy problematic ships (abusive/incestous/pedophilic ships) and are so proud of it that they’ll dedicate everything to those ships, even days or months. Due to this pride, when you tell them that what they’re doing is wrong, they’ll usually play the victim and say stuff like “b-b-but i just wanna have some fun. Pls don’t bully me. I wont harm anyone uwu”. Also they’ll always appear as being very friendly and kind and have a huge amount of friends but beware of their friendly outlook, because actually they are closeted abusers. Bonus: they say that fiction doesn’t affect reality and they’ll never hurt a fly like the creator of Taken said that the movie was based on an irl story of him so people ignore the Albanophobia.
Shipping characters is good. Having fun in fandoms is good. But being a proshipper is never good.

(Fah-there-less) or (Ah-bore-shons)
A chronically online person who should really go touch grass and feel the sun. A person who thinks fiction wont affect reality. Typically people who are to soft and wouldn't say anything in reality. Ex. Twitter users.

A proshipper is someone who believes fiction doesn't affect reality. They use Twitter and Discord 24/7. They typically own body-pillows and live in their parents basement or never come out of their bedroom. They idolize Dream, Cookie run, anime and Yarichin. Proshippers casually think yaoi is amazing. Proshippers are also people who would call children l0lis and say they understand Japanese when they barley understand.

Fatherless children who should realy get therapy!
"I am a proshipper uwu poggers uwu Dreamy x Gogy!" - Fatherless child
