Polytheism

Polytheism is a belief in and/or worship of multiple gods and goddess'. The word comes from the Greek, "Poly" which means many and "Theoi" which means gods. You have Soft Polytheism and Hard Polytheism. Many modern day Wiccans are Soft Polytheists, which means that believe in many gods but believe them to be aspects of The God or The Goddess. Whereas a Hard Polytheist, such as an Asatruar, believes each god and goddess is an individual entity, with their own personality and character and is not part of a greater whole.

Playtheism

Playtheism is a philosophy for living life with a playful spirit. A playtheist engages in play to find meaning and connection with self, others, and everyday life experiences. It is not a religion, nor anti-religion. Anyone from anywhere at any age can be a playtheist. The whole point of playtheism is to be our best selves experiencing joy and feeling alive as much and as often as possible.
A child on a playground is a playtheist. A parent playing with his/her child on a playground is a playtheist. Letting go and dancing your ass off is what playtheism is all about.

Polytheism is common in contemporary Paganism, and many non-western religions, such as Shinto and some forms of Hinduism. It and was also a feature of many ancient religions, such as the religion of the Ancient Greeks. There are two subtypes of polytheists, soft polytheists and hard polytheists. Soft polytheists believe that they believe in many gods and goddesses but consider them all to be aspects of one God or one Goddess. In contrast, hard polytheists believe all gods to be distinct entities, each one with his or her own characteristics and personality. Hard polytheism is a feature of some contemporary Pagan religions, especially the ones leaning more towards reconstruction of the religious beliefs of ancient cultures, such as Hellenic Polytheism, Asatru, Kemetism, and Celtic polytheism.
