1. Sensationalism for the gratification of a gawking public; gratuitous saturation. Glitterporn is the media equivalent of driving past an accident and being unable to look away.

2. Media coverage of celebrities down to the last mundane detail of their lives.

Examples include media coverage of celebrities ala Tabloid TV, the Scott Peterson murder trial, and the Washingtonienne sex scandal.

As I watch Entertainment Tonight's coverage of Britany Spears's recent knee injury, I asked myself, "Why do I watch this glitterporn when I could be living my own life?"

The rightful name of the so-called vampires in the Twilight series of books and films. The movies and books somehow managed to be a hit in spite of their deficient story line, poor character development, glittering vampires and Kristen Stewart.

Guy 1:Hey, what's that movie with the sparkling, vampires? You know the one where the wolf dudes can't keep their shirts on?

Guy 2: Oh, you mean the glitterpire movie, aka Twilight! Some how I am unafraid of a vampire that glitters in the sunlight rather than suffering a painful and fiery death. That was two hours of my life that I will never get back.

glittercore 

When an all teen girl group breed the scene princess look with Killswitch Engage-esque instrumentals and an annoying "I want a pony for my birthday" ranting crying screams.

Lyrics deal with issues such as PMS, loosing one's virginity or virginity itself, ex-boyfriends, kindergarden repressed memories, chocolate fudge ice cream and soap operas, black friday at the local scene clothing store, Mariah Carey's Glitter.

The suffix "core" has spawned music genres such as hardcore, grindcore, metalcore or the as of mid 2000's trendy emocore. It's time for Glittercore to implode the music scene.
