they're a pretty great indie band from the great state of NY. awesome tracks are: Hannah, generator 1st floor, and ghosting. to name just a few. very creative/quirky lyrics. everyone in the band sings and plays an instrument. extremely underrated & worth listening to.
man, have you heard of the album weathervanes by freelance whales? it's pretty rad.
when i listen to freelance whales it's like joy running around in my head.
A team (preferably a duo) hired by a police commissioner (preferably not seen) to take on cases and jobs (preferably none anyone in their right mind would do) for a meager wage (preferably in Hostess snack food and non-bootleg corndogs).
Only wisecracking overzealous crime stoppers fill this job. They are found loitering near convenience stores, have wanton disregard to the rules of the road, and take random things as "evidence". Cases handed to them always get done, but probably not in a waypeople expect them to be solved.
Person 1: Did you know Freelance Police curse in long hand?
Person 2: Well, semicolon apostrophe hyphen comma good for them!
An individual working for a political campaign with no political affiliations whatsoever. They get paid in cold hard cash and frequently work for multiple campaigns simultaneously.
My bro's a freelance campaigner and made $2500 working for a Senate campaign and voted for the other guy.
To degrade into a helpless spiral of in-jokes and bizarre plot twists so as to make it all but impossible for new viewers of a webcomic or show to become fans easily. See Red vs. Blue and Sluggy Freelance.
"Why is everyone's suit color in Red Vs. Blue different? And since when did the robot lose his head? Where did that guy come from!?"
A definition that’s been the word of the day for a few days now. This fact is very worrying. The actual definition of ‘Freelance Mascot’ is ‘ A fun way to say furry!’.
Person 1: Hey, have you checked Urban Dictionary recently?
Person 2: Yeah, the same definition of ‘Freelance Mascot’ has been word of the day since the start of this week!

A sunburn or suntan focused on the left arm. It is caused by the left side of the body being the only half that gets exposed to sunlight while driving. Presumably, it would be located on the right side of the body in countries where they drive on the left side of the road.
I had a trucker's tan after driving for 10 straight hours on a sunny day.
British slang for a scientist or technical expert, esp . when the speaker is not certain of the expert’s specific field of study. Not necessarily derogatory, but typically used by persons without a technical background. In the US, the equivalent would be “egghead”, “squint”, or “geek.”
Origin of the word is unknown. Started sometime in World War 2. Given the typical evolution of British slang, could easily have started because what these experts did was confusing or “baffling” to the common person.
When you have to pee in a movie but don’t want to miss anything, and must do the following mental equation: will the amount I have to pee cause enough discomfort to diminish my attention capacity for the remainder of the movie to an extent which is greater than the amount of the movie I would miss by making a mad dash to the restroom.
I saw Satantango last night, wonderful film but by the 5th hour I had to start doing peecalculus.
