A faux socialist; one who professes to follow socialist principles, but in fact opposes or undermines them at every turn. Tony Blair's "New Labour" in the UK is a well-known example.

Tony Blair took the socialist Labour Party in a new direction in 1997, creating the fauxcialist and neoliberal "New Labour".

fake socialite. not to be confused with socialite this person is known to be a part of fashionable high society because of his or her regular participation in social activities and fondness for spending a significant amount of time entertaining and being entertained, normally socialites posses considerable wealth, but in all actuality they are poor, low to no class people that who have friends in high places.

socialite: did you hear that tiffany isnt actually rich she's been faking this whole time.
maid: so she's a fauxcialite.
socialite: exactly now fetch me something to drink, consuela.

faux-cialist

noun, foe-sha-list: Rich college kid who goes dumpster diving and only wears thrift store clothes because he/she thinks it shows solidarity with poor people. Finances frequent cross-country trips to protests that he/she knows nothing about with Daddy's platinum card. Refers to people who show contempt for this lifestyle as capitalist pigs. Misquotes Marx on a regular basis. Is totally lacking in the ability to see the irony in his/her politics.

I am so sick of the wannabe protester, faux-cialist kids in my anthro class, I could scream.

fauxcialism

The act of pretending to be involved in a socialist community for personal reasons that have nothing to do with the people who are actually involved. i.e. to alleviate guilt, or to get that socio-hippie-freak lover to complete the collection.

Tamera: "I thought he was really fantastic, until I realized he really didn't care about us at all."

Dawn: "Yeah, I had him pegged as being into fauxcialism from the beginning. I hope the sex was good for you."

A social climber or someone on the margins of a perceived "elite" group. A poser or pretentious person.
