Metro Early College High School

Welcome to He- I mean Metro I mean metro I meant to say metro! A school in Columbus Where the once smart want to kill themselves ,the average stay average and where the dumb thrive. Yes metro is an interesting school. Kids who understand anything will have no problamo at this school. The kids who have trouble learning somethings WILL GET EXPOSED TO THE FULLEST EXTENT. The dumb kids thrive, because well they just expect it. The 6th graders are considered gods to everyone else whereas everyone else is just a shitter. The remediation policy is absolute shit where once again the 6th graders thrive as those teachers give easy remediation policy whereas everyone else gets teachers who get long and hard remediation policy (remediation is when you get under an 90 % and have to do test corrections and retake). This school is for STEM right wrong! We get like one robotics club and the programming club is only for girls. The depression in metro is real and it feels like at any second some kid is gonna shoot up the school. Teachers don't teach and it seems like everything sucks. The one thing I want to leave with you people is you could be going to columbus city schools.
I love Metro Early College High School and my kid loves going there- Parent who pays no attention to how the kids feel

An Early College High School in Hickory, North Carolina, Challenger, servers two out of a hundred North Carolina counties: Alexander and Catawba. Limited to a hundred students per class, everybody knows each other. Most of the teachers are extremely qualified. The school's honor code is integrity, citizenship, and stewardship. Anybody who doesn't follow this code can be punished. It's the only school in the county where you drop $2 dollars, and somebody will return it in the office.
Jack: I heard you're not coming to Hickory High with us. Where are you going?
Bill: I'm going to the prestigious Challenger Early College High School.
Jack: That sounds great. I hope you do good.

Metro, commonly referred to as "hell" by the sophomore class, is a STEM school.

Metro was created on the idea that kids could go on an accelerated school life, and go straight to college. By doing two years of college, students can get a start into the world.
Metro constantly changes, leading to confusion. Seniors relax, knowing that they will never again have to deal with Metro's flux, while the freshman class dread the upcoming years.

Procrastinators are never punished, thus everyone at Metro procrastinates in some way. The only way for a procrastinator to become punished is if the teachers call the parents. Students who find themselves on the receiving end of this expect to hear lectures.

Grading is one thing that has not changed in the history of Metro. At Metro, one must meet what is called MASTERY, or a 90% or higher. Failing to receive this grade, even receiving 89%, results in the dreaded WIP.

Metro runs on an online system. Students submit work onto a site called Taskstream, which are then graded by teachers that are tech-savvy enough to use a Mac. If a student does not have access to a computer, the school will provide a used MacBook. If the student does not have Wi-Fi, the school simply shows the kid to a hotspot.

The other part of Metro's monitoring system is known as PowerSchool. This is a grade book where teachers can put grades, giving parents a way to monitor kids. However, teachers never update their grade book, usually leading to classes with no grade.
Powerschool Grade: 89% (WIP)

Parent: Powerschool says You're not meeting your potential. I sent you to Metro Early College High School so that you could meet your potential

Student: Ok. (Notices lack of grading in over two months.)

Striver

Share definition Flag
The striver is an interesting phenomenon that is seen across college campuses. In essence, the striver is an over-achiever who comes from a working or middle class family. He may be an immigrant. He may have been a slacker in HS who was "born again" into an academic wunderkind. Or he may just be an over-achiever who is keeping at it.

The striver is willing to sacrifice his social life at the expense of Phi Beta Kappa and Summa Cum Laude. The striver is the guy who stays at the library long after you are gone. The striver is the guy who takes 30 credits/semester and considers anything below an A/4.0 failure. The striver doesn't work on campus, he is too busy finding ways to pad his resume instead of working retail or workstudy. The striver lets his grades pay his education by applying to ten scholarships a year.

The striver is a future Soros/Fullbright/Rhodes/Gates/Marshall/etc. fellow. The striver lives to study. For the striver, their fun comes from the rewards they expect to receive in return for their diligence. Be it Law School, B-School, academia, or politics. The striver seeks to find the American Dream through academic success.
Anthony was a striver. He transfered from a TTT to an IVY and graduated in 2 years. He studied his ass off and went to Penn Law. He got a Biglaw offer. But lost it all because of an unmoderated mesasgeboard.

- Barack Obama
- Harold Koh

Delta SkyMiles, also known as SkyPesos, is the frequent flyer program of Delta Airlines. It has a very poor value and hard to use.
- I'm trying to book an award flight to Paris, but I only have 70,000 SkyPesos
- Just forget about it, you don't have enough SkyPesos to fly anywhere.

1. Select a player (real or fantasy) during a sports draft to spite or anger one or more of your opponents because they had intended to select him/her.

2. Select a player (real or fantasy) during a sport draft to put one or more of your opponents at a strategic disadvantage.
1. Billy hate drafted Chad OchoCinco because he knew Sam had wanted him since he is from Cincinnati. Billy already had plenty of players to fill that position but wanted to make sure Sam didn't get him.

2. Billy hate drafted Peyton Manning because he was the only good quarterback left and he knew Sam had been planning on drafting him.

Utility beer

Share definition Flag
Utility beer is the beer you keep around for the day-to-day moments when beer is a necessity to assist in pedestrian activities (golf, plumbing, yardwork, babysitting, staff meetings, Zoom calls). For the beer snob it is the beer you save for neighbors when they drop in at 3 p.m. on a Tuesday. It is differentiated from the actual high-end beer you save for special events, holidays, and special tastings.
Person 1: Dave, did you bring along those hazy craft IPA's so we could drink while cleaning Lyle's pool?
Person 2: Nope. I just have a bunch of utility beer that Steve dumped on me. Good enough for this. It is only 10:30 a.m.
