down ranger 

slang. used to describe a servicemember who goes off post for fun; i.e., get drunk, get laid, generally have a good time.

An action or statement that can't be taken back. Referencing a bullet shot which cannot be put back into the gun.

You want a do-over after calling your boss stupid to her face, but there's nothing you can do. That's a round down range.
