comes from the latin words confabulationes (gossip) & falsus (false)
basically, lying to make gossip you heard more interesting

it's something i see happening a lot here, so might as well make a word for it
"oi, i heard ross cheated on his wife"
"he did... i feel bad for beth,"
"yeah, he cheated on her, with ,her SISTER"
"what??? no???"
"huh, but ... my wife told me he did"
"oh, she made a confalsus then"
