You wouldn't want to imagine getting bit by a swarm of cicadas the way they look and sound. There would be a lot of people wary of an insectoid space invasion if more people were getting bit on the arm by those things, people must be lucky, as some would call it.

They produce a very loud screeching sound somewhat similar to the sound of crickets but much more irritating. They typically are around all summer. They are terribly clumsy fliers; I've had several fly into my head.
