Typically the traveller who has blinkied becomes quiet, withdrawn and introspective, often as a consequence of stress of travelling or business engagements, or the prolonged intensity of contact with his or her travelling companions.

Etymology
Exact origins are unclear, but rumoured to include an obliquely relate to the Australian children’s cartoon koala, Blinky Bill. First common usage encountered in or around 2013.
