When someone goes above and beyond to illustrate they know more about a
band than someone who has expressed interest in that
band, especially with a condescending
tone or attitude .
"I see you have a Motorhead shirt on. I bet you cant name 3 songs off the Inferno album . See, most people only know Ace of Spades, but....."
(This person was bandsplaining to someone else )
Second definition: when you ask a band what kind of
music they play and they go on for 10 minutes, listing obscure bands and saying how you'll never really understand it until you listen to their album.
E.g- Chad: what kind of
music does your band play?
Tim: we're like a mixture of
punk and country, with a little
jazz/reggae. We have some tones of Johnny Cash from '72-73, plus some hints of Zanphire. But like his B-side stuff, not his popular/mainstream stuff. But that doesnt really explain it all the way.
