Bansplaining

A Digitallighting tactic where the perpetrator “explains” to a target why they deserve to be banned, often before the ban has even been issued, and frames the explanation as helpful feedback. Bansplaining is used to pre‑justify a ban, to make the target feel that their own behavior is clearly toxic, and to deter others from supporting them. It often appears in servers where a clique controls moderation: the target is told in detail how they “failed” to meet community standards, while the provocations that led to their reaction are ignored.

Example: “After she defended herself against his bait, a mod DMed her a 10‑point list of why her ‘tone’ was unacceptable—bansplaining, justifying exclusion by reframing her response as the offense.”

When a fan tries to explain something to a pro athlete, coach, GM or entertainer about the pro's craft. Takeoff of mansplaining.

(fan) "If you open your batting stance, you'll see the ball better."
(pro athlete) "Quit fansplaining! I'm the pro athlete, not you!"

When a British person (tan) explains something thats blantantly obvious/false in a condescending manner to an Irish person because they're British, think they're "great" and have no grasp on their countries history.

Bernsplaining

The act of Sanders supporters condescendingly telling you that you don't really understand what is going on.

"Man, the braided beard dude at the Blue Bottle chewed me out for like 10 minutes when I said I liked Hillary's views on women's rights."
"Don't worry about it, girl, that guy is always Bernsplaining everybody."

When frustrated manly men go and flood the Urban Dictionary with their definitions of the word Mansplaining, because they know it better than the feminists, actually.

Greg is so pissed off because his professor didn't want to hear him explain her area of expertise to her in his opinion, so he went meta-mansplaining in UD and invited all his friends too. (See mansplaining )

Sansplaining

When people from San Francisco interrupt you while you're having a neutral discussion to assert their misplaced sense of entitlement and reassure you that whatever you're talking about they definitely inherently know the answer, after all, they're from San Francisco.

Tom was talking to John, a San Franciscan, about the topic of homelessness until John interrupted Tom mid sentence and began sansplaining to Tom because he feels a false sense of superiority which he carries as badge of entitlement wherever he goes.
