Yonkers (Yo-nk-ers)

Also known as Yonk Daddy. This has been a nickname for many fellow Yonks. The Yonk community usually has side effects of random spazzing of the Yonks and my rub off on any of the Yonks friends. Some people who do not know how to pronounce Yonkers may use one of her other names such as yonkeee and Yonkauis (Yonk-ali-us). If you do spot a Yonkers it is usually a once in a lifetime opportunity for they are a rare and wild species. One way to avoid a Yonk is to hang around a strawberry field. One way to attract a Yonk is to dress up as a purple power ranger just because. Now one thing you have to remember about Yonks is that every single one of them have a birth name but they are all called Yonks as a cult.
person: "Omg Ella is it just me or does she not act just like a Yonk???"

Ella: "OMG I thought it was just me...well if we listen we might be able to hear her Yonk...that is if she is a Yonk".

Fellow Yonk: *Yonk Yonk Yonk*

Ella and Person: *in sync* "OMG SHE IS A YONK I KNEW IT!!!!"

Purple Power Ranger: *runs next to Yonk*

Yonk: *Follows Yonking*

Purple Power Ranger: *runs into strawberry field*

Yonk: *runs away hissing*

Ella: "OMG she is such a Yonkers (Yo-nk-ers)

A city of 200,000 that would be considered a major US city (about the size of Madison WI) if it were not overshadowed by NYC. The same could be said about Newark and Jersey City as well. Bordered by the Bronx River to the east, the Hudson to the west, the Bronx to the south and the Town of Greenburgh to the north.

Greatest city in New York. Contrary to what many believe, it's actually a very livable and vibrant city.
Stay out of the ghettos though, there's nothing to do down there.

Contrary to popular belief, Yonkers is one of the safest cities in the United States if you consider that Yonkers is about 200,000 strong. People who tout otherwise are disinterested in using logic and/or facts. To their credit, Southwest Yonkers (home of the lovely Schlobaum and Mulford Gardens) is absolutely brutal.

The city is coming around. With its perfect residence on the Hudson River (which is a great landmark nobody cares about), Yonkers is rebuilding the waterfront and looking to return to its roots when the city was tabbed, "The City of Gracious Living."
"Mulford Gardens is, by all accounts, a notorious public housing project: a cracking, leaking behemoth in southwest Yonkers that is teeming with crack addicts, reeking of urine, infested with mice and devoid of any soothing greenery or recreational space that its name might suggest. The rest of the city is quite nice."
