A hypothetical nation where sovereignty rests with the people or their representatives, rather than with a monarch or emperor.
Also, the inhabitants do not let tyrants run their lives and take away their freedoms. In this Republic, they practiced true democracy.

The Republic doesn't exist in real life and it will never be another country like it.

The Republic of Long Island

n. The location immediately east of continental New York. It is a fish-tail shaped island 118 miles long that nestles the eastern shore of Manhattan. Composed of 4 major counties: Nassau (Western LI) and Suffolk (Eastern LI) as well as Kings and Queens Counties which are also geographically located on the Republic of Long Island. More commonly known as simply Brooklyn and Queens (respectively), they they are often referenced as part of "The City" (as they are 2 of the 5 NY boroughs). "The Republic" terminology comes from the fact that many Long Islanders believe they are separate from the United States, and independent country, if you will, and it is a humorous spin on the idea that Long Island is so vastly different that it makes up its own country. Citizens of The Republic of Long Island are often obsessed with their upbringing, sometimes trying to act as though they are "gangsta" when they are really not, and often reference their proximity to New York City ("The City").

the Republic of Daevastan 

A strong anti-slavery nation with slight anomalous significance that manifested on 20/3/22. Predecessor nations include the Daevite Empire, various tribal sects and its membership within the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, all of which were forcibly suppressed from consensus reality until the aforementioned date.

this reality shift occurred due to the destruction of SCP-140, a text which purported to describe the historical Daevite Empire. It is now known that SCP-140 was highly inaccurate. Further, it was discovered that the former prevailing theory as to the operation of SCP-140, that it was restoring an ontologically annihilated civilization into being, was only partially correct: it was also the phenomena that had initially ontologically annihilated Daevite history. The complete destruction of all copies of SCP-140 undid its effects and ontologically reinstated the Republic of Daevastan to its original form.
