A way of describing a person who mixes something of high value or quality with something of low value or quality.
"Did you see that guy mixing 12 year old whiskey with coke?"
"yes I did, that man was a real Symonomym!"

Get the Symonomym mug.Symonyms is a common joke made in classes to describe the common mispronounciation of the word synonym. Many people will say Symonym instead of Synonym, hence it is a modern meme.
"It's a symonym for... Oh, no, I said Symonym!"

Get the Symonym mug.**1.) Smononyms (smŏn'ə-nĭmz) (noun)**
A phenomenon or *"brain glitch"* that occurs when you're half-asleep, where you accidentally invent a completely new word while desperately trying to remember a real one by combining and mixing two unrelated words together in a moment of sleepy-time genius.
It's the verbal equivalent of your brain buffering. The word itself is a portmanteau of *"synonym"* and the smooth, smushy *"smo-"* sound of a brain turning to mush as it desperately tries to fall asleep :)
The phenomenon is a specific form of **hypnagogic jargon** *(a fancy term for the nonsensical stuff that happens in the transitional state between awake and asleep).*
**2.) Smononym (smŏn'ə-nĭm)**
The actual, specific word that gets created by this process. Often sounds like it should be real and might be weirdly perfect.
**3.) Smononization (smə-ˌnä-nə-'mā-shən)**
The process or result of **smononymizing**. You could say it's the act of *conceptualizing* a **Smononym**.
**4.) Smononologist (smŏn-ə-'nä-lə-jist)**
A person who studies or is an expert in the field of **smononyms**. They're a dedicated scholar of sleepy-time linguistics.
*It's honestly now becoming a dream job of mine. **No. Seriously.** Imagine telling everyone at the next family potluck that you just finished your PHD in **Smononology**. What a marvelous world that would be, huh? :)*
(One can only dream.. Speaking of.. I'm exhausted and am going to sleep now.. Goodnight, and sweet dreams! :)

"I had the craziest moment last night. I was trying to fall asleep, and I couldn't think of the word **Synonyms**. So for some reason my brain kept coming up with the word **Smononyms** instead. It bugged me so much that I couldn't get to sleep, but I kept thinking about the word **Smononyms**. I look it up and apparently *it doesn't exist as a word!* That's when I think to myself *'wow, you just came up with a new word. Your sleepy little mushy goblin brain came up with a brand spankin' new word! But what could it mean? What does it define? Oh, wait, I have the perfect idea, it defines itself!'* and that's how I **Smononized** the word **Smononyms** :)"
