athletic scholarship

How people get into a college they otherwise would have no hope of getting in to.
James: Yo I heard Tyshawn got in to Duke and got a full scholarship, too.

Bill: WHAT I cracked like 2000 on my SATs and had a 4.0 and I got waitlisted. He didn't even score 1000 and he had a 2.0.

James: Yeah but he's the number one basketball prospect in the country. He's on that athletic scholarship.

getting something,anything for nothing....
Knowing the bartender as well as he did meant Paul was on full scholarship for his drinks for the night

scholarship

Something adults tell you to apply for, because supposedly they lie in abundance. Like all other things adults say, it's a lie. Unless you scored a 2200 + on your SATS, spent your free time tutoring children with dyslexia, wrote your college entrance essay on the human genome project and its relation to modern feminism, your chances of getting one are slim.
Parent: "Mike got a full-ride to Baylor. He can't even spell his own name but he's the nations #1 200 meter runner, and has been All-American every since he sprinted out of the birth canal. You see Jake you could get a scholarship too".

Jake:"Fuck off mom you said the same thing about college.

scholarshipping

the act of looking at a scholarship website and praying that something applicable will turn up. then mailing out countless applications in hopes that someone else will be kind enough to pay your substantial college debts for you
I wasted a perfectly good Saturday scholarshipping by writing a fictitious letter to my congressman about suggestions for controlling overpopulation in the United States for the Negative Population Growth (NPG) scholarship

tryna get a mothafuckin' scholarship

A term which essentially means 'Chillin'', or simply relaxing at home. Taken from the movie Pineapple Express, in the scene where the drug dealer Red bounces a gym ball and explains how he has been spending his day, "tryna get a mothafuckin scholarship, chillin!"
Sean: "Dude, now that you quit your job, what do you do all day?"

Chester: "I've just been tryna get a mothafuckin' scholarship"

Coyote Ugly

1. Place

The Bar came before the movie. It is an awesome bar where the girls know how to party and make you feel okay about giving up your money, drawers, bras, and dignity.

A story about a Jersey girl following her dreams, aided by working at this bar in New York.

Back when I lived in upstate new york

A meaningless, unimpressive, self-serving introduction. An indicator that the story about to be shared will be pointless and dumb.
Back when I lived in upstate new york, I also had to park on the street - on two occasions, we got enough snow, mixed with just the right plowing, that my car was lifted off the ground from so much snow being jammed underneath it.

Sister: This meeting was to discuss the rough draft of my essay, where we discussed the subsidiary questions I added in my rough draft. We also discussed the relationship between my main title and the real-life situations I chose to use in my essay. We discussed the structure of my essay as well, specifically the Math AOK section and how it relates to the contradiction of the title. This second meeting was particularly helpful in discussing the implications of my essay claims and how to apply the title across various areas of knowledge. There were many sections of the essay that could have been cut down in wordiness and the ways of knowing required further and more in-depth analysis.
