Rumpefest

A Rumpefest is a ceremony where two men are united in marriage. Rumpefest traditions and customs vary greatly between cultures, ethnic groups, religions, countries, and social classes. Most rumpefest ceremonies involve an exchange of manly vows by the men, presentation of a gift (offering, rings, symbolic item, flowers, money), and a public proclamation of marriage by an authority figure or celebrant. Special Rumpefest garments are often worn, and the ceremony is sometimes followed by a rumpefest-reception. Music, poetry, prayers or readings from religious texts or literature are also commonly incorporated into the ceremony, as well as superstitious customs originating in Ancient Norse mythology.

A Rumpefest is not to be taken lightly. You must know what you are getting into and with whom before walking down the longboat with your Ragnar.

Rumpefest

A old tradition, some say as old as the viking age, in the most northern parts of Sweden where two men who love eachother exchange armrings and swear to always have eachothers backs and to always be true. There is usually a huge feast with friends and family invited.

Rumpefest has for the most part been replaced by weddings as christian gay marriages has become more acceptable, however the tradition still remain in small rural areas in the north even though its considered a gay marriage in a legal sense.
