circular reasoning

Circular reasoning is providing evidence for the validity of an assertion, which assumes the validity of the assertion.

General forms include "A is true because A is true" or "A is true because B is true, and B is true because A is true".

Often used as a mechanism to prevent an assertion from being challenged or questioned, or to "win" a debate by sending it round and round in circles.
Examples of circular reasoning:

"I'm right because I'm right."

"There isn't a problem with the rule, because if everyone obeyed it there wouldn't be a problem."

"Piracy is wrong because it's against the law, and it's against the law because it's wrong."

"X is stupid because he's an idiot."

SAT Reasoning Test

The most complex, confusing, and most important high school test ever made. The company that makes it, CollegeBoard, makes it very tricky, and it is ABSOLUTELY the most important test in high school. Despite it's name, most of it is NOT reasoning, most of the test requires prior knowledge and skills.
WTH? CollegeBoard is giving me a test that doesn't even test beyond anything I learn in college. This test is rigged. The only people who get high scores on the test study for it, defeating it's purpose. So Why am I waking up early on a Saturday to take this again? The SAT reasoning test should be banned.

Horizontal reasoning

Logic applied uniquely when in the horizontal position.
"My horizontal reasoning says I can press Snooze one more time because I don't REALLY need a shower before my job interview."
or
"My horizontal reasong says it must be a good idea to have sex with them because LOOK! they're lying down beside me."

Seductive Reasoning

Trying to get someone to do something

they do not want to do,

by seducing him/her.
"How did you get Jeff to come to the opera tonight?" said Kelly.
"Oh, I just used seductive reasoning." replied Jessica.
