---How a person measures/thinks about this ratio will differ widely. A very altruistic person that gives a lot towards others "without the need to get anything back in return" still may get back a lot - simply in the form of positive emotions/feelings/praise, etc.

respectful interaction with a person/group results for you in more negative than positive reactions from their part, then cancel contact.
