Noscon

Short for "Nostalgic Retcon".

When a game studio working on a popular or beloved series wants you to forget about all of the terrible shit that's been done to it over the years. They prey on nostalgia and often promise a "back to the basics" approach.

Noscon examples include Mega Man 9, Contra 4, and Sonic the Hedgehog 4.

noncon

Short for "nonconsensual" in fanfiction, regular fiction, or just in general referring to various kinds of relationship scenarios where one or both of the participants is forced into sex. Generally associated with rape fantasy and highly controversial.

On the whole, relationships in fanfiction are between two consenting individuals, but there is the occasional noncon.

nonconformist

A nonconformist is a person who does not conform to the trends of the average person. A true nonconformist does what they want to do and not what other people want them to do.
This is not to be confused with an anticonformist, which is a person who does the opposite of what the typical person does.
Anticonformists often call themselfs nonconformists, because they dont know any better.

At a party where the majority of people are drinking:
The conformist would drink till he/she can't drink no more.
The anticonformist would not drink a drop.
The nonconformist would drink as much as he/she feels like drinking.

Consensual Nonconsensuality

The act of giving the consent while pretending not to consent (in BDSM). This term was coined by Biaman Basu in The Commerce of Peoples: Sadomasochism and African American Literature. This action involves two participants and their willing to test the waters. For example, one partner pretends not to like being tied up while the other pretends to force it. Another example, in literature, is reading a text that is fragmented and irritating, but still stimulating. Both parties agree ahead of time as to what lines cannot be crossed, but can still be taunted, and as always, a safe word is used to ensure protection.

Before the play scene:

Bob: I'm going to beg you to stop whipping me, but please don't.

Sally: Ok, I've got your consensual nonconsensuality.

During the play scene:

Bob: Oh Sally! Please stop! You are hurting me!

(Sally doesn't stop)
