And from what I understand, it originated from Russia.

Sam Golbach is a cute boy with beautiful blue eyes from Kansas. He ghost hunts places with his best friends Colby Brock, Corey Scherer, and Jake Webber. He and his best friend grew fame from vine. He used to live in a house with 5 roommates, they called their house the trap house.

goluboi 

Goluboi is the Russian word for light blue (such as a daylight sky blue) as opposed to "sinii" which is the Russian word for dark blue (like the blue of the American flag). This is similar to how English differentiates pink and red and does not say red and light red. They are considered two completely different colors in Russian.

Goluboi. also seen spelt goluboy, is Russian slang for gay or homosexual.

One theory of the origin of this slang is that boys in Russia wear blue and girls wear pink. Homosexuals are thus referred to as "blue" since they like those of the same color.
Lesbians are reffered to as rozovyi, which is the Russian word for pink.

Another suggests that it first was recorded in the 1950's but began being used in the 1940's in prison camps.
Designated homosexuals wore a blue ribbon - "golubaya lenta."
Another theory is that it referenced "blue blood" as the nobility saw homosexuals as odd.
Yet another is that it comes from homosexuals wearing blue underwear or a story of a girl named Mal'vina who had blue hair in Alexei Tolstoy's story "Zolotoi kliuchik."

Golbat 

Fugly bat pokemon, evolution of Zubat. Like zubat, it's annoying, especially when you enter caves, appearing every other step, but only in the higher-level caves, like the caves near the sea and Victory Road. Still, they are goddamned irritating, and for some reason, all the bad guys in the Pokemon games love to use Golbat.
Golbat maybe annoying but it sucks. Any strong powered attack will kill it. And even though they suck, they will still emerge to challenge your godlike Pokemon when you trod in caves. God how I hate them. If you want to maintain your sanity, make sure you bring Repels before entering a cave.

Golbat evolves into Crobat when it's happy. Crobat is actually useful. I guess it is worth catching and raising one of those annoying bats after all.
