Friendshift

A word that sociologist Jan Yager invented to explain how friendships change throughout life.

One of my best friends recently divorced. Strange, but I always knew him as a couple. Now, we don't see each other as much. Hope he's not too affected by the friendshift.

Friendshift

A periodic analysis and inventory of friends, or influences in your life that lead to a 'shifting out' of the toxic ones.

Mary: "Every time I sign on to social media, I get so stressed out by all of the negativity! It's not fun anymore!"
Bob: "Maybe it's time for a friendshift."
