Feralization

Feralization is the process by which a domesticated animal (or sometimes a plant) returns to a wild or semi-wild state. This usually happens when domesticated animals escape or are released into the wild and survive without human care, often over multiple generations. Classic examples include feral cats, feral pigs, and mustangs. The term can also be used more broadly to describe something becoming wild, untamed, or no longer under human control.

Pigs undergo feralization when left in the wild and become boars.
