the plural form of dingus, not to be confused with a bunch of people who are dumb, but a bunch of people acting dumb to make others laugh, if they were all dumb, they would be idiots, but they are not dumb and just act dumb
*group of people acting immature*
person 1: "they are idiots"
person 2: *laughing* "no, they are dingai"
The dingnat is characterized primarily by how annoying they are, but the most essential element of their behavior is a resolute refusal to be considerate of how other people's perspectives and feelings differ from their own while refusing to take responsibility.
Root: A combination of "dingus" and "gnat." Gnats are annoying little pesks, but's that's not their fault. Bugs don't choose to exist. Dingnats are similar, but they're human. Not only do they choose to exist, they refuse to take responsibility for their own burden of existence. Dingnats insist on making their problems everyone else's.
"My roommate is always trying to keep distracted so he plays music loud af 24/7... such a dingnat."
"Every time Becky breaks up she wants everyone to get involved. She's such a dingnat."
