Dembel

A dembel (Russian: дембель) is a Russian military slang term for a conscript who is in the last 100 days of his mandatory military service.
Dembels are looked up to as higher ups and seniors by their newer, younger counterparts (dukh). This slang term is similar to the western “Unc.”

Conscript 1: “Did you hear about the Sergei? He’s officially a dembel.”
Conscript 2: “It’s about time, he deserves that status.”
