This Ain’t Business Bitch, This Personal!

Share definition Flag
This Ain’t Business Bitch, This Personal! — This is an example of the literary reversal theme wherein a well known oft quoted line or trope is inverted to show another facet of meaning to the idea. This example occurs in the movie New Jack City that takes the famous trope “THIS IS NOT PERSONAL; IT’S BUSINESS” and inverts it to make the point that ultimately narcotic drugs did destroy the uneasy symbiotic balance between the strange bed fellows: organized crime and organized policing.

In words of Wesley Snipes as Nino Brown in the same movie: MONEY TALKS AND BULLSHIT RUNS THE MARATHONS.

Can you say Iran Contra Drugs for Arms Scandal, boys and girls? I knew that you could!!!

No matter what anyone tries to pretend: IT’S ALWAYS PERSONAL TO SOMEONE.

ALWAYS.
Ice-T as Scotty Appleton in New Jack City: “This Ain’t Business Bitch, This Personal! I want to shoot you so bad my dick is hard!!”

This is business; not personal.

Share definition Flag
This is business; not personal. — “THIS IS BUSINESS, NOT PERSONAL”, is perhaps the most seminal teaching; and, the most valuable lesson taken from the movie The Godfather. The rule foreshadowed the coming age where corporations would be considered as people and the lives of individuals would be over shadowed by the need for a corporation to continue unobstructed.

One aspect of this teaching is urging a warrior or a holy man (see Godfather 3) never to lose his or her objectivity when faced with facts.

Another aspect of this teaching — which is somewhat ironic — is that a “business decision” is always “personal” to someone. And, if you ever woke up in a bed beside a severed horses head; or, been machine gunned while pinned in a New Jersey toll booth; then the personal aspect of “business decisions” would be crystal clear.

This rule also come into sharp relief if you have ever been replaced by a machine or a non-union worker who will work for less money than you would.

It’s hard to believe that with a of the people who quote both Scarface and The Godfather, this sentence has not found its way into The Urban Dictionary in the year before 2023 C.E. That said I offer it here — and my offering is strictly business and not personal.
Amazon just replaced thousands of individual human employees with computer automation and scanners; but, This is business; not personal.

socialist business class

Share definition Flag
The half-assed attempt by European airlines to offer a premium airline seat by sticking a fucking piece of plastic between two economy class seats. Snobby business pricks who sit at the front of the plane still get to sip on a drink and judge the masses as they are herded to the back of the cabin, however they must be confined to the same inhuman space and rancid hot-pocket meal as everyone else.

Did you see Bill, that lucky bastard got upgraded to first class?

Yeah, but its Europe, so he will walk off the plane with hemorrhoids and mud-butt like everyone else. Socialist business class ensures everyone is treated like shit.
Any European flight has socialist business class

Wisconsin Business Suit

Wisconsin Business Suit

The business attire of your typical fat ass Wisconsinite.

The Wisconsin Business Suit is usually made up of Dockers pants, a golf polo (typically Under Armour or Nike), a brown or black belt, which may or may not match the Kohls Department Store purchased lace up dress shoes. A cell phone attached to the belt is optional and often considered to be in good taste.

This look is often accentuated with the "Dunlap" or "cheese tank" which is the gut of said fat ass hanging over his belt.
Example One:

Wisconsin Man 1: Hey, what are you wearing to the big meeting in West Bend tomorrow?

Wisconsin Man 2: Just got a new Nike polo and a pair of sweet Dockers from Kohls that were 88% off.

Wisconsin Man 1: Dude you always out dress everyone.

Example Two:

Scene - Business Conference In Vegas

Man 1: Jesus Christ, who are all these fat fucks wearing pleated Dockers and polos? God they look like shit.

Man 2: It looks like some fat fucks from the Mid West.

Man 3: Yeah I grew up in Wisconsin. They're rocking the Wisconsin business suit. I'm so ashamed of my heritage. (hangs head in shame)

Man 1: Well if they're half as stupid as they are fat, this should be the easiest sale of my life.

Man 2: For sure. God who the fuck dresses like that?

Man 3: My friends and family.

Striver

Share definition Flag
The striver is an interesting phenomenon that is seen across college campuses. In essence, the striver is an over-achiever who comes from a working or middle class family. He may be an immigrant. He may have been a slacker in HS who was "born again" into an academic wunderkind. Or he may just be an over-achiever who is keeping at it.

The striver is willing to sacrifice his social life at the expense of Phi Beta Kappa and Summa Cum Laude. The striver is the guy who stays at the library long after you are gone. The striver is the guy who takes 30 credits/semester and considers anything below an A/4.0 failure. The striver doesn't work on campus, he is too busy finding ways to pad his resume instead of working retail or workstudy. The striver lets his grades pay his education by applying to ten scholarships a year.

The striver is a future Soros/Fullbright/Rhodes/Gates/Marshall/etc. fellow. The striver lives to study. For the striver, their fun comes from the rewards they expect to receive in return for their diligence. Be it Law School, B-School, academia, or politics. The striver seeks to find the American Dream through academic success.
Anthony was a striver. He transfered from a TTT to an IVY and graduated in 2 years. He studied his ass off and went to Penn Law. He got a Biglaw offer. But lost it all because of an unmoderated mesasgeboard.
