Blick Hop

A hybrid hip-hop genre that combines the hard-knocking bass, bounce, urgency and explosive production of modern drill and trap with the elite lyricism, layered wordplay, punchlines and storytelling of old-school hip-hop.

Blick Hop was created for listeners tired of choosing between lyrical rap over boring beats and powerful beats carrying basic lyrics. The production catches you immediately, but the bars reward repeated listening.

Think of the verse like a strap being loaded: every bar is another round, and every punchline is a shot.

The genre was coined by author and recording artist C.M. James and introduced through his song “BLICK HOP.”

(Spinoff of "cock block".) A hop block occurs when one person impedes another person's attempt to drink beer. Usually a spouse/significant other, but could be any friend, co-worker, or a complete stranger.
