Albert Wesker was introduced as a secondary character in the original game, being the traitorous captain and founder of the Raccoon City Police Department's Special Tactics and Rescue Squad (S.T.A.R.S.) and was subsequently killed at the end of the game. Due to his unexpected popularity, Wesker was brought back in Resident Evil Code: Veronica as the new villain of the series, and it was discovered by the S.T.A.R.S. that he had caused everything from his own apparent "death" to the destruction of the Umbrella Corporation. He remains at large.
After a long search for their missing team mates, Barry and Jill had gone their seperate ways. Albert Wesker stayed, crouched in the balcony even after their departure, wondering how he could have let all of his careful planning fall to shit.
