Truly ridiculous metaphors and similies that compare things that are, in truth, unrelated. In an attempt to sound intellectual, this will make the writer sound arrogant, pedantic, pretentious, and uneducated.

"The goals of the GOP are reminiscent of a shower curtain, see through and weak on homeland security."
"Did you come up with that Sameerism all by yourself...?"
