A suburb of west London in the London Borough of Hillingdon. Attractions include the Ruislip Lido and Ruilsip Woods. Bordered to the north by Eastcote, to the south by Northolt, and to the west by Ickenham and Uxbridge. Writing this makes me realise I was formed by Ruislip sometimes I even dream of going back there but then again I never will, not really. Still it's well worth a visit. For a full blast of it Betjemenesque power go to Ruislip Manor and wander through the suburban side roads till you get to the main part which was where the Normans had a castle or a keep or summat.

West Midlands slang word for rockers, bikers, greasers etc. In the late 1980s it was used by the UK music press to refer to a specific scene centered around the bands Pop Will Eat Itself and Crazyhead. The term never found favour with readers of 'the inkies' (Sounds, Melody Maker and the still extant NME) and was soon dropped. Now often used in predominantly working-class areas of the midlands and the north to mean someone who listens to rock-derived music and/or dresses in a manner that suggests they affiliate themselves with rock music of some kind.
